Most people who think of dieting think of a never ending meal pan containing grilled chicken, salad, fruit, cottage cheese and yogurt.  They think of saying good bye to pizza, carrot cake and donuts. They have visions of no more lunches with their friends or date nights out with the husband at a fancy restaurant.

That's the reason most diets fail.  People stay on them for a week or two, loose a pound or two, realize they cannot give up their favorite baked goods for the rest of their life and they give up.  Tina Haupert understands that leading a healthy balanced lifestyle doesn't mean having to give up all of those tasty treats for the rest of your life.  The author explains how you can still enjoy treats and drop pounds. Dieting doesn't need to mean constant calorie counting and being hungry all the time while you gnaw on a celery stick.

Carrots 'N' Cake is look at how the author managed to loose weight and keep it off.  It's a collection of her thoughts and ideas on a variety of topics including exercise, how to splurge, maintaining your weight, becoming accountable, cravings, traveling and more.  Each chapter focuses on a different topic and inside that chapter are recipes that deal with what you've just learned. She also shares a number of very in depth samples of her work out routines in strength training and treadmill workouts.

I really love the tone that this book is written in.  She doesn't come off preachy and she acknowledges a number of things that many women suffer from like cravings and binges.  For the most part, her recipes are simple and use ingredients that most people will have in their pantry already. She doesn't encourage the use of artificial sweeteners in her recipes and encourages whole grains and fresh produce.  All in all, this is a very doable program that won't leave you feeling exhausted, starving and ready to eat an entire cake in one sitting.  I'm really looking forward to trying these recipes.  They're healthy enough for me to feel good about making them and delicious looking enough for me to want to eat them.

I'd love to be able to afford to go to a gym but it's just not in our budget. That doesn't mean that I don't need to exercise though. I still have workout goals that I need to manage. I just need to be able to manage them at home instead of in a gym.

The FitKitHOME includes everything I need to reach my workout goals at home. It includes a resistance tube with cushioned handles for strength straining.  It's made of high quality 4 foot rubber tubing with premium comfort grips.  It can be adjusted to increase or decrease resistance.  Also included is a flat resistance band which is a durable 4 foot long flat band made of rubber that allows for a variety of exercise options. You can adjust resistance by changing the length of the band used. There is even a stability attachment to attach to a door and expand your exercise options.

The FitKitHOME has more than just strength training capabilities, it also allows you do to cardiovascular exercises.  It includes a pedometer with safety alarm that you can attach to your waistband or pocket to calculate your steps.  Plus you get a jump rope! It's a 9 foot PVC rope with contoured hand grips that increases cardiovascular conditioning by strengthening the heart and lungs.  It also defines the muscles of the legs, shoulders and arms.

There are also some great exercise safety features included with the FitKitHOME. You can exercise outside safely with the reflective arm band that lights up under headlights or street lights. There is also an ID tag that provides personal, emergency contact and medical information. You can attach it to your shoelace or belt buckle. Plus the pedometer has a safety alarm that emits a 120-decibel sounds when pulled.

Not only does the FitKitHOME have a bunch of great gear for my workout, it comes in a handy zip up case. I cannot tell you how many times I have gotten ready to workout and gone to look for the various pieces I needed for my workout only to find them scattered around the house. This way, everything is in one case exactly where I need it.

Included with the FitKitHOME was a sheet of exercises to get me started. But there was also an access code so that I could access the FitKitHOME Exercise Library online for a full list of home specific exercises! There was even a recommended workout schedule, fitness and safety types and suggestion for ten best low calorie snacks!

You can get all of this for $29.99 which I think is an amazing price.  There's no way I could purchase all of this separately for this price and it comes in a really neat case as well. I was really impressed with the quality of the items I receive.  They're very well made and will clearly hold up to repeatedly using them in my workout routine.  The bands were comfortable to hold and use and the exercises were easy to follow. I appreciate that their workout suggestions have information for beginners, intermediate and advance users so you can really tailor it to what you're capable of doing. This is definitely an asset to my home workout supplies.
