Contest & Chardonnay Pork Chops with Creamy Gravy using Tavern Direct Chandelier Chardonnay & Fire Grilled Garlic Marinade

We like to stretch our grocery dollars as far as we possibly can. One of the ways that we can do this is by watching the prices of the meat that we buy. Sure the more expensive cuts of meat might be a bit more tender but with a growing family, they just don't work into our budget. One of the ways we can make the most of the meats we can afford to buy is by marinating them. Marinating meat brings out the flavor and also breaks down the proteins which makes meat more tender.

I recently had a chance to try the Tavern Direct Chandelier Chardonnay & Fire Grilled Garlic Marinade on some pork chops. The marinade contains grape seed oil, chardonnay wine vinegars, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, sea salt, spices and roasted garlic oil. According to the website, it's also good with poultry and sea food but pork is what we had so that's what we used it on.

Chardonnay Pork Chops with Creamy Gravy

4 pork loin chops thick cut
1 cup of Tavern Direct Chandelier Chardonnay & Fire Grilled Garlic Marinade
1 tablespoon flour
heavy cream

Marinate the pork chops in the marinade for at least 3 hours.

Fry in a cast iron pan until seared and cooked through.  Remove from the pan and keep in the oven to keep warm.

In the cast iron pan, add about a cup of water and slowly whisk in one tablespoon of flour.  Stir constantly over very low heat until it gets bubbly. Add enough heavy cream to make it thick and creamy. Remove pork chops from oven.  Serve gravy over pork chops and mashed potatoes.  This was amazing. The kids loved it and came back for seconds.  The pork came out really tender and absolutely delicious.  We're definitely having this again.

Tavern Direct offers a variety of gourmet marinades & sauces, balsamic vinegars, flavored oils, dipping oils and bbq & grilling sauces that are used in their New York restaurant, Tavern on the Green.  I recently had the opportunity to try the Tavern Direct Toscana Garlic Parmesan Marinade.  This marinade is a zesty, Caesar-style blend of olive oil, garlic, parmesan cheese and lemon.  I was thrilled to find out that it's not only kosher made but gluten free!  The ingredients are natural with nothing that isn't easily recognizable: olive oil, parmesan, garlic, lemon, white wine vinegar, and spices. It doesn't get much better than that!

I recently had the chance to try the Asian Lemon Marinade, Dipping & Finishing Sauce. This is an all natural sauce that's perfect for salmon, chicken, mushrooms, eggplant, tuna, steak, wild game & swordfish and can be used on the grill, in stir fry or even on a roast. We chose to use the Asian Lemon Marinade, Dipping & Finishing Sauce in a Chicken Stir Fry.

The  Asian Lemon Marinade contains soy sauce, water, expeller pressed canola oil, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar, herbs & spices. It is the perfect addition to a stir fry and is sort of a blend of soy, garlic and lemon. Definitely delicious!

The Toscana Garlic Parmesan Marinade is one of those products that is absolutely delicious no matter how you use it.  It worked really well as a salad dressing on our Caesar salads and I also had great luck with it as a marinade for chicken.  My favorite way to use the Toscana Garlic Parmesan Marinade so far is on bruschetta.

Toscana Garlic Parmesan Bruschetta

3 Ciabatta rolls split in half
1 bottle of Toscana Garlic Parmesan Marinade from Tavern Direct
1 tomato
1 container of Gorgonzola cheese

OK let me start this by saying I like Gorgonzola cheese but it is a bit strong. If it's not your favorite, feel free to substitute mozzarella.

 The ingredients

Brush the ciabatta rolls with the Toscana Garlic Parmesan Marinade. Broil until slightly crisp around the edges.  Remove from the oven.
Sprinkle on the chopped tomato and cheese of your choice.  Make sure you leave the tomatoes off the ones for your 13 year old son who thinks the world will end if he has to eat tomatoes. Place back under the broiler until the cheese melts.
 Delicious!
