BKW Seasonings is a family owned business that originated in the 1960's. Their seasoning was created to produce a unique buffalo-style wing that their family had used for years cooking wings for their friends and customers at football games, parties and gatherings. In 1997, they opened a small take out restaurant called Big Kahuna Wings. Just two weeks after opening, they competed with other wing restaurants and was voted Best Wings in Knoxville at the annual War of the Wings.

They experimented with the seasoning and found it brought out the flavor of a variety of different foods including steaks, hamburgers, pork, fish, and vegetables. The result was BKW Original Gourmet Big Kahuna Blend. The BKW Original Gourmet contains salt, other spices, garlic and monosodium glutamate. I was disappointed to see MSG as an ingredient since it's something I know so many people have issues with. We don't generally have any problems with it here but I do know it's a concern for some.

We used the BKW to make Chicken Tenders which is a recipe we found in their recipe section. I really loved the taste of the Original Gourmet Big Kahuna Blend. It definitely brought out the flavor of the kitchen and the coating was delicious.

BKW's Big Kahuna Seasonings may be purchased online or from your local super market or specialty store. You can find them at all Kroger, Food City, Bi-Lo, Harris Teeter, and Winn Dixie stores, plus several Fresh Markets, and other independent stores. It looks like most of their distribution is in the south east of the country but there are a few stores in other areas as well. Plus you can always purchase it online directly from them. A 3.5 oz bottle of their original seasoning is $4.59 when purchased directly from them. They also have their seasonings available in five pound tubs which is great for those who need to purchase online.
