I really love sausage and we cook with it regularly whether that means spaghetti, lasagna, sausage and peppers or something else. Sausage tastes delicious and is very versatile. I like being able to make a variety of different recipes with one meat so I'm not stuck making the same old dish every week.

The only problem I have with sausage is that it's generally not the most healthy meat to cook with. Traditional sausage tends to be high in fat which I really don't need in my diet. Traditional sausages are also loaded with nitrates and preservatives and those aren't things I want to feed my family.

Chicken Sausage from Al Fresco is all natural and has 70% less fat than traditional pork sausage does. They're also free of nitrates, preservatives and artificial ingredients. They're even gluten free! Al Fresco makes not only dinner sausage but also breakfast sausage and meatballs. Their fully cooked dinner sausage comes in nine different flavors! We've used their Sun Dried Tomato flavor for years but you can also get Spinach & Feta, Roasted Garlic, Buffalo Style, Spicy Jalapeno, Sweet Italian, Chipotle Chorizo, Sweet Apple and Roasted Pepper Asiago.

I recently had a chance to review several different flavors of Al Fresco Chicken Sausage.  The first I chose was the Roasted Garlic flavor and it made the perfect addition to our spaghetti.  It was full of flavor and absolutely delicious! This could easily be used with an Italian dish or sausage and peppers as well.  We used the Sundried Tomato flavor and it was fantastic on pizza!  The Spinach and Feta flavor made me stop and think for a few minutes but Al Fresco has a  really great recipe section that lets you search by meal, occasion, flavor or calories! We ultimately decided to go with the Spinach and Feta Sausage with Fettucini and an al fredo sauce and I was extremely happy with the results.  It's nice and creamy and the flavors are a great compliment to each other.

I've found Al Fresco Natural Sausage at our Price Chopper and Hannaford. You can use their store locator to find a store near you.  I've never found their Breakfast Sausage or Meatballs in my area but I am definitely asking my stores to start carrying them.  I love the flavors that they offer and having 70% less fat than traditional sausage means that I can enjoy sausage whenever I want without worry about the calories.

We eat a lot of salsa in this house. It's very versatile plus it's super healthy for you. We use salsa in many Mexican dishes that we make including Huevos Rancheros, breakfast burritos, tacos, nachos and chimichangas! It's also a great topping for baked potatoes. I generally prefer mine on the mild side so I chose the peach salsa as it's one of my favorites from Renfro Foods. The salsa has a bit of sweetness that I find is perfect for cooking.   I've used it in grilled salsa chicken in the past but this time I chose to have it on a breakfast burrito and it was really good.  Their nacho cheese sauce is amazing as well and it's the kids preferred way to make nachos.  So easy. Just open the jar & pour over. Then heat in the oven.  Piece of cake! Some nights I need quick and easy in the kitchen.

Easter Candy solutions for those with allergies from Indie Candy #gf

Easter is only a few weeks away and I really need to start looking for some gluten free Easter candy for Sarah17's basket. Sarah17 is gluten intolerant so we try to make sure that her Easter treats are gluten free. She does splurge occasionally but tries hard to limit what she eats so she doesn't get sick.

We also received a delicious, dairy free dark chocolate bunny rabbit lollipop. They use European dark chocolate that is sweet and rich, never bitter.  Each lollipop is one ounce.  The lollipops are Vegan, All Natural, Big 8 Allergen Free and GFCFSF.  This one was the first thing that got devoured and it was just as yummy as traditional chocolate.
