Quinoa Nutrition Bars by Nature Crops

A few years ago if someone would have mentioned the word quinoa to me, I would have had no idea what they were talking about. With, Sarah17 being diagnosed gluten intolerant, I've introduced some new foods into our diet.

Quinoa is a grain that dates back about 5000 years ago to the Andes. The Incas considered it a gift from God. It's one of few grains that can be grown at such high altitudes and is still used today. Quinoa is very nutritious and can supply our bodies with carbohydrates, fats (the good ones!), protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Luckily, it's also gluten free!

Nature Crops nutrition bars
are made from organic quinoa. They're a rich source of high quality protein and the amino acid lysine. Nature Crops bars are sweetened with organic brown rice syrup and organic honey. They're a good source of fiber rand are low in fat and sodium too.

Nature Crops bars are available in three flavors: Quinoa, Almond and Sesame; Quinoa & Strawberry and Quinoa & Prunes. Each bar comes individually wrapped and is one serving. When I figured out the Points Plus value for it, it was 3 Points Plus so this is a great, healthy snack I can fit into my diet as well as Sarah17's.

For some reason when I opened these I was expecting them to be dry and crisp. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they are moist and slightly chewy! They have a hint of fruity sweetness to them which I really enjoyed. I truly dislike those overly sweetened bars sold in the grocery store. The sweetness in the Nature Crops quinoa bar was fruity and delicious and not at all overwhelming. I really like how they made it chewy but still gave it a hint of crispness too from the soy crisps. Nature Crops quinoa bars make a great snack after a workout or between meals or even as a side with a garden salad for lunch.

They are working hard to get these in the store and on shelves by the end of April so keep your eyes open at local health food and grocery stores. Keep checking back on their website to see when they'll be available in your area.
