My kids love sweetened cereal for breakfast as much as the next kid. When we're in the grocery store, it never fails that someone brings me a neon colored, artificially sweetened, high fructose syrup cereal product and tries to sneak it in my grocery cart. Luckily I have mommy eagle eyes and manage to catch the offending box and put it back on the shelf before it makes it into my home. I don't think so.
Don't get me wrong. I love sweetened cereal as much as the next person does. Actually just about anything sweetened scores pretty good marks in my book but there's just one catch. I want it to be sweetened naturally. I don't want it to contain artificial colors or high fructose corn syrup and I don't want it loaded with preservatives. Is that too much to ask?
Nope! It isn't! 3 Sisters Cereal and oatmeal are just what I wanted. They offer natural, sensible, sustainable cereals. Plus their cereals are made using renewable wind energy! Their cold cereals come in bags not boxes and use 25% less consumer packaging that the other brands. 3 Sisters oatmeal comes in a 100% recyclable carton. In my area, we can't recycle cereal cartons so I really appreciate that their cold cereals come in bags instead of boxes.
You can get 3 Sisters cold cereal in Sweet Wheat, Marshmallow Oaties, Cinnamon Sweets, Honey Puffs, Graham Crackerz, and Honey Oaties varieties. Their oatmeal comes in Cinnamon & Apples, Dark Chocolate, Brown Sugar & Maple and Plain Grain varieties. They are available exclusively at Whole Foods.
My kids aren't as into the whole eating naturally thing as I am. They would gladly shovel down neon colored, radioactive cereals if I let them. There are times I've brought healthy natural foods into the house that they've looked at, tried once and pronounced them not edible. Thankfully, the cereals from 3 Sisters are not like that.
We had a chance to try the Sweet Wheat and Marshmallow Oaties cold cereals and the Cinnamon Apples and Dark Chocolate oatmeal. They must have been reading my kid's minds when they chose what to send because in their book, any cereal that contains marshmallows or chocolate is a huge treat! David13 LOVED the cereals from 3 Sisters! He pronounced them just as good as the traditional sweetened cereals and has requested them every morning since I opened the first bag. I hope that they offer gluten free cereals soon so that Sarah17 can enjoy them as well. I would also love it if they'd offer their cereals in other natural food stores since we don't have Whole Foods in Vermont.
I usually choose a whole grain breakfast cereal to start my morning off so my first choice was the Sweet Wheat cereal. I absolutely loved it. The Sweet Wheats are crispy and crunchy with a lightly sweetened taste that was the perfect way to start my morning. The bags are resealable so I don't have to worry about cereal going stale either.
