Xylitol is a natural sweetener found in fruits and vegetables. It's suitable for diabetics and valued at a seven on the glycemic index scale. It also helps prevent tooth decay and plaque formation on the teeth which is important for me when choosing snacks for the kids.
I was thrilled to find out that I can cook with Ideal sweetener too! One cup of Ideal is equal to one cup of sugar when you're baking. I decided to give Ideal sweetener the ultimate taste test and use it to make sugar cookies which is Marty's favorite snack. There was a recipe on the back of the Ideal sweetener package that I used. See the previous post for the recipe & my results. The cookies baked up just the same as traditional sugar cookies. I died them pink to be festive :) Marty loved them and couldn't tell the difference between Ideal sugar cookies and traditional sugar cookies.
Ideal No Calorie Sweetener comes in a bag form or in packets. I'm loving the packets for my coffee. They're very convenient to toss in your handbag to use when you're out. You can also try the brown sugar and confectioner's sugar varieties. You will find it in the same aisle as traditional sugar. Don't forget to request your $1.00 coupon for Ideal! You can check out their store locator to find a store near you that carries Ideal. In my area, I found it in Shaws, Hannaford and Price Chopper. You can also purchase it online at places like Amazon.
You can connect with Ideal on Facebook, Twitter or their blog.
