Many years ago, before I had children and lost part of my mind, I had a very organized system of getting things done. I would simply make a note on my desk and handle it the next day. Once the husband, household, pets, children, job, volunteering, etc. grew to take up even more of my time, my lists got a little out of control. I didn't just have one sticky note on my desk.
