I'm sure that you've heard the old saying that diamonds are a girl's best friend. But do you know where the saying comes from? "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" is a song that was first introduced by Carol Channing on the original Broadway production of Gentlemen prefer blonds way back in 1949. The song was also performed by Marilyn Monroe in 1953. The Marilyn Monroe version is probably my very favorite version of the song.
Did you ever wonder just why diamonds are a girl's best friend? I know I have. I suppose that it could be because diamonds are so stunning and versatile. They can be used in just about any type of jewelry imaginable and they can be worn alone or with other stones. One of my favorite types of diamonds are princess diamonds. A princess diamond is cut to sort of resemble an inverted pyramid but with four beveled sides. Just imagine a tiara covered in princess diamonds! What could be prettier than that?
Of course I'd be thrilled to have just about any diamond covered tiara. Wouldn't you? I think a pile of wholesale loose diamonds would be an amazing thing to find in my Easter basket this year. Do you think the Easter bunny will cooperate? Maybe even a whole bunch of princess diamonds nestled inside one of those brightly colored little plastic Easter eggs instead of jelly beans? I think that would be a pretty amazing Easter gift. I think I'm going to write the Easter bunny a letter right now. Maybe if I bribe him with a plate of organic carrots?
