My kids love the lunch kits you can buy that have crackers, cheese and meat in them. That said, I almost never buy them because despite what you think, they really aren't that healthy. They're generally fairly high in trans fats, high fructose corn syrup and even MSG. They also need to be refrigerated which doesn't work well in a back pack for a high school kid.
GoPicnic offers ready to eat meals that are actually good for you. The food in GoPicnic meals contain trans fats, no high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) & no added monosodium glutamate (MSG). They require no refrigeration and there is a huge selection to choose from! I expected to find a handful of varieties but was totally astounded at how large the selection was.
You can choose all natural ready to eat meals like hummus & crackers, tuna & crackers, salmon & crackers or peanut butter & crackers. You can also choose classic deli meals like salami & cheese, turkey pepperoni & cheese, steak nuggets & cheese, or turkey stick & crunch. You can pick picnic meals like almond butter & jam, tuna & hummus, turkey pepperoni & cheese, or steak nuggets chips & salsa.
They even have special care packages you can purchase for endurance, kids lunchtime favorites, kids fun food, anytime, study fuel, tasty treats or energy boost. Best of all, they have meals for special dietary needs like gluten free, all natural, vegetarian, vegan and kosher. Do you know how hard it is to find gluten free lunch ideas? This is amazing!
I really love these kits. Inside each box are a variety of different separately wrapped food items to enjoy. The foods come from places like Late July, Clif Kids, Mrs. May, and PopChips. You can see the full list of their partners here. I love that these are all brands I know and trust for quality and taste.
I received two separate ready to eat meals: Salami & Cheese and Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese which was gluten free. The Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese ready to eat meal included:
- Bridgford Turkey Pepperoni
- Crunchmaster Multi-Seed Crackers
- Copper Cowbell Asiago Gourmet Cheese Spread
- Mariani Dried Cranberries & Pineapple
- Brown & Haley Almond Roca Buttercrunch Toffee Candy
We also had the chance to try the Salami & Cheese meal. This meal contained:
- Old Wisconsin Beef Salami Slices
- Late July Organic Classic Rich Crackers
- Copper Cowbell Asiago Gourmet Cheese Spread
- Sweet Perry Orchards Cashew Medley Fruit & Nut Mix
- Late July Organic Dark Chocolate Sandwich Cookie
Both children enjoyed these meals a lot. They liked that they contained a meal portion along with a snack/dessert portion. I was pleased to see that in addition to a sweet, they also contained a packet of fruits/nuts to snack on. Because they were all separately packed, it was easy for Sarah18 to have the crackers, meat and cheese for lunch and save the packet of dried fruits and the candy for later on.
