Flower Remedies have been around for years in the natural living communities. Dr. Bach was a physician who believed that disease was a physical manifestation of unhappiness, fear and worry. He looked to nature for the answers and discovered that healing properties were contained in flowers. During the 1930s, Dr. Bach found 38 healing flowers and plants that became the 38 Bach Flower Remedies. These remedies remove negative emotions like fear, worry, hatred and indecision to allow the body to heal itself.
Alexis Smart uses these 38 essences as the foundation of her formulas. She has years of experience working with real people with real conditions and her formulas are based on pure clinical observation and practice. Each formula contains seven flower essences in a base of spring water, with a very small amount of brandy as a preservative. You can specify in the notes section if you would prefer apple cider vinegar or vegetable glycerin to brandy. I chose the vegetable glycerin for my formula. A one-ounce bottle lasts one month.
There are a number of different types of formulas in both children and adult versions. They can help with things like aging/beauty, monthly woes, stress, discouragement, anger, lack of energy, lack of concentration and motivation.
I chose to try out this formula:
My Personal Assistant
Fatigue, Procrastination/Energy, Motivation
This no-jitters energizer makes dreaded work actually seem fun. Hornbeam gives you the motivation you need to start, stress-relieving Impatiens keeps you calm and patient and positive-outlook Gentian gets you whistling while you work, enabling you to accomplish tasks you thought were impossible.
It has a slightly sweet taste to it and the enclosed dropper makes it very easy to take the four drops every six hours. I admit to not being all that great at remembering to do this every six hours. Maybe I should have requested the concentration one instead. I haven't noticed a huge difference in my motivation level but again this could have to do with my forgetting to take it regularly. It does say that remedies can work immediately in certain situations but for long term issues it will take three weeks to one month.
I also had the chance to review the Brain Drops for kids:
Brain Drops
Challenged, Defeated/Focus, Learning, Confidence
Brain drops stimulates enthusiasm for learning. Calming Impatiens cultivates a sense of peace, tolerance and yes, patience. Clematis helps focus attention and enhances memory, while Gentian and Larch boost confidence and determination. Helps both agitated and dreamy kids to listen, learn, retain information and regain confidence in their own inner knowing.
David13 has ADHD and we are hoping that this will help him concentrate. David13 is not all that pleased with the taste but honestly, it doesn't taste bad to me at all. Of course, being 13, he's not fond of much right now :) Again this needs to be taken every six hours which is challenging for us on school days because he leaves at 7:30am and doesn't get back until 3:30pm. On days he has after school activities, it's even later. That makes it tough to take every six hours.
I love that these formulas offer something other than traditional medications. They're safe for allergy sufferers as well. You can't necessarily expect in immediate response These formulas aren't addictive and there are no side effects. I definitely recommend looking into these to see if they're a good alternative for you and your family.
