Win Jovial Foods Organic Einkorn & Gluten Free Cookies

There's nothing that calls to me more at the end of the day than a cookie along with my cup of chamomile tea. For me, that's the perfect snack ending after a long day. I don't want just any cookie out of the cookie jar. The kids can keep those.  I want something special  and that's a step above the rest. Jovial Organic Einkorn & Gluten Free Cookies are crafted in the Veneto region of Italy by passionate artisans, these cookies transport you on a sensorial journey to an authentic Italian bakery.

Now you may be like me and never have heard of Einkorn before.  I'm pretty fluent in alternate flours but this one was new to me.  Roughly 12,000 years ago, mankind transitioned from hunter-gatherer and started farming so they could stay in one community.  The first crop they chose to domesticate from the wild was called Einkorn, the original species of wheat.   Pretty neat, huh?

There are three varieties of Einkorn cookies offered by Jovial Foods: Ginger Spice, Checkerboard and Crispy Cocoa.   I had the opportunity to try the Ginger Spice Einkorn Cookies and I'm so glad I did.  First they're organic, so I know I can trust the ingredients and the manufacturing process.  They're not an overly sweet cookie which makes them the ideal choice for adults who are looking for something different than what's in the kid's cookie jar. They have a very delicate ginger taste with a crispy outside.  They're delicious alone or dunked in a cup of tea or glass of milk. Einkorn is much more nutritious than modern wheat so each serving contains 3 grams of protein. Einkorn is genetically pure because it has never been hybridized. It's exactly as nature intended it to be and I can trust that it hasn't been messed with by scientists.

Of course, since Einkorn is a type of wheat, it's not gluten free.  If you're gluten intolerant, don't worry, Jovial Foods has a selection of gluten free cookies as well!  There are three varieties of gluten free cookies from Jovial Foods: Fig Fruit Filled, Chocolate Vanilla Cream, and Chocolate Chocolate Cream.  We had the opportunity to try the Gluten Free Fig Fruit Filled cookies from Jovial Foods.  They are both gluten and casein free as well as organic.  Each cookie comes in an individually wrapped package of two.  I love this because they're ideal to put in lunch boxes for the kids or to tuck in my handbag of a snack on the road.

As much as I am into healthy food, I sometimes have issues with whole grain and alternative grain pastas.  I really do not like my pasta to taste gritty at all. It just ruins the dish for me. I wasn't sure what to expect when I tried the Einkorn Whole Grain Spaghetti. It's a whole grain pasta and is also higher in protein than traditional pasta.  That means it leaves me feeling full instead of hungry again after dinner. We had it with spaghetti & it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't at all gritty in texture and we enjoyed it a lot.
