I'm sure there are lots of thing that we all feel lucky to have in our lives. Maybe it's our friends, families, husband's, children, etc. Maybe we feel lucky to have a job or lucky to be healthy. Either way I'm sure there's something you feel lucky about in your life besides being able to get free movies.

One of the biggest things I feel lucky about is to live where we live. We live in rural Vermont on two acres of property in the woods. Most of our land is wooded and we have homes only on two sides and even those are a bit far away. In the summer, I can only see one home through the trees.

I love the quiet where we live. At night in the summer with the windows open, I can listen to the crickets and the frogs and hear nothing else. I don't hear traffic or people talking. I don't hear sirens or trucks rushing by my house. I can sit out side in my front yard and not worry about my safety. We don't have drive by shootings and our crime rate is very low. I can let my son walk to town on his own and not worry about his safety. I don't have to worry about keeping my door locked constantly or having bars on the window.

In the summer I can plant a big garden and grow fruit trees and berry patches. I can have a coop full of ducks and chickens and don't need to worry about anyone telling me what I can and cannot do on my own property. Nobody tells me what color I can paint my house or what kind of Christmas decorations I can hang up.

I feel lucky to still have the peace and freedom that my parents had to live the kind of life that's important to us.  I know that a lot  of people aren't as lucky and that makes what we have even more special to us.  What do you feel lucky for?
