What does your school use for fundraising?

As the school year comes to a close, schools start thinking of parties and events that they can use to reward and entertain the children. I know that field trips and parties were always my favorite types of days when I was in school and my kids aren't any different. It really helps break up the monotony of day after day of school work and it's a fun way to entertain and reward the children.

Because kids enjoy these types of events so much, they're a great way to motivate children. What child isn't going to try a little bit harder if the possibility exists of having a pizza party or magic show? School fund raising is a great way to raise funds for things that tax dollars don't generally cover like trips or special projects. It's hard to motivate kids (and parents) to be involved with fundraisers sometimes. Sometimes they're not really motivated to get involved with the fundraiser because the reward isn't appealing.  Most kids don't get really excited about a plastic toy that is going to break an hour after they start playing with it.

I have found that when there's a prize or event that my kids really want, I'm more willing to get involved and they're more willing to help with the school fundraiser.  If you really want your school fundraiser idea to be a success, you need to offer a reward that gets the kids excited. Try offering them a pizza party, magic show or other event for the entire class that raises the  most money.  That's a unique student motivator that works!
